Victoria is Australia’s major transport and logistics hub, servicing the Melbourne metropolitan area, regional Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, Southern New South Wales, South Australia and other parts of Australia. Around 70% of Australia’s total population and the bulk of its manufacturing and agricultural capacity are captured in this economic zone.

A unique combination of geographic and demographic advantages makes Victoria the natural location for business, manufacturing and associated freight transport, distribution and storage activities.

The Victorian Government initiated the TDL Industry Round Table to focus on ways to further optimise supply chains and logistics through a genuine partnership between three State Government departments and TDL industry associations.

Within the context of increasing global competition and rapid change in the TDL industry there is a pressing need to build on the achievements of the 2002 – 2005 TDL Industry Action Plan through the implementation of the Victorian Supply Chain Excellence Action Plan over the next four years.
