Transport Company Benchmarking StudyThe Transport Company Benchmarking Study was an initiative of a partnership involving the TDL Industry Round Table and the Victorian Government. The aim of the study was to provide transport companies with a clear statement of their use of supply chain technologies (within their companies and along their supply chains) in relation to the rest of the industry. (Volume 1) A second report was developed to inform IT companies about their customer’s needs. (Volume 2). The study’s finding can be used to assist transport companies benchmark their performance against competitors and the industry as a whole. The reference model assists companies to measure their degree of automation, identify areas where process improvement has been most effective and better understand the challenge of integrating business process software and system to achieve best-practice solutions. The study also contains important insights for software vendors. (Volume 2) It highlights the need for more integrated software solutions and it identifies which business processes are most automated (and hence where demand for new software is likely to be lowest).
